Arizona’s Forests Give Us So Much. Let’s Give Something Back.

A quiet walk beneath the ponderosa pines. A weekend camping with family. An afternoon exploring the backroads around Payson. For many of us, Arizona’s forests are part of what makes this place feel like home.

These places give us room to slow down, spend time together, and enjoy the outdoors. They deserve our care in return.

At Clean Forest Arizona, our mission is to help protect and preserve Arizona’s forests through community involvement, volunteer efforts, and donations. We believe that caring for these landscapes is something we can all take part in.

What we leave behind matters

Most people head into the forest to enjoy its beauty. But discarded bottles, food wrappers, bags of household trash, and other debris can turn a favorite spot into a place that feels neglected.

Anyone who has arrived at a campsite and found someone else’s garbage knows that disappointment. No one should have to begin a day outdoors by cleaning up after the visitors before them.

Every piece of litter removed is a small, visible improvement. Every visitor who packs out their trash helps keep the next cleanup from being necessary.

Small habits make a difference

You don’t have to wait for an organized event to care for the places you love. Start with a few simple habits whenever you head outdoors:

  • Bring a trash bag and take all your garbage home.

  • Secure loose items in your vehicle so they cannot blow away.

  • Check your campsite or picnic area before leaving, including beneath tables and around parking spots.

  • Set an example for children by making cleanup part of every outing.

If you encounter sharp objects, suspicious containers, or a large dumping site, leave those items undisturbed and report the location to the agency responsible for the land.

A community effort worth building

Clean Forest Arizona is based in Payson, where the forest is part of everyday life. We want to bring together people who care about these places and are willing to help protect them.

Whether you are a local resident, a weekend visitor, or a business owner, there is a place for you in that effort. You can express interest in volunteering, support our mission through a donation, or share our work with someone who would like to get involved.

We also welcome conversations with local businesses and community groups interested in supporting future cleanup efforts.

The goal is simple: forests we can enjoy today and feel proud to pass on to the next generation.

The next time you head into the pines, take a moment before you leave. Look around. Pick up what you brought. Help leave that little piece of Arizona ready for the next person to enjoy.
